12.12.12

We couldnt let this day go past and not mark the occasion where it will be the last time we see the with sequential numbers so what have you all been up to today?

Here at Fresh it has been cold, frosty with freezing fog and started at -5, we have been busy doing calendars, xmas cards, the presses have been running jobs for Seiko, NHS, Ultralife, Lohmann and Adeyfield School today, our main press operator has had a day off, but other than that we have had a full compliment of staff of Ian, Kevin, Kevin B, Angela, Anita, Gary, Andy, Mark and Holly.

The shop has been busy doing programmes, posters and various other copying and finishing.

As for appointments we have had one at a new National Trust account, a secondary school, a football club and the NHS so it has been a frutiful day.

We are also busy going through our marketing plan for the coming year and assessing the last financial year.

Outside of Fresh, the main news is still the economy and that we are now entering our 5th year of recession and that the UK has very little growth and is still struggling to reduce its deficit. The Euro is still struggling with many countries needing to be bailed out from their increasing financial difficulties. In other news North Korea illegally fired a rocket into space, airports are facing disruption due to the freezing fog, the Spice Girls launched their new West End musical ' Viva Forever' and in sport Arsenal were beaten by Bradford in the League Cup on penalties.

So lets hope this gets stored away somewhere and it will be a little insight to our day on 12.12.12

High hopes for Fresh

Fresh have successfully secured the prospectus and student planners of Aylesbury Grammar School for the next 3 years, it comes off the back of more success with Schools that have have already signed up for next year.

After initially doing some banners for the school we sought to see if we could help in producing with their other marketing items. After seeing what we had produced for others and how good our pricing structure was, Aylesbury Grammar wanted to use someone locally.

Andy Gerlack said,' Im grateful to all at Aylesbury Grammar that decided to go with us, we have been looking to do more work locally with schools and this is another feather in our cap, Holly our business development manager has been working hard on the schools campaign which has proved very successful and this is the first of many you'll be hearing about.'

Five Strategies for a Winning Sales Presentation

How to put your best pitch forward, win over prospects and make more sales.

2. Put in more prep time. No matter how good you are at thinking on your feet, don't wing the presentation. You'll risk jumping all over the place without a logical flow, Take the time to prepare and to practice from an outline, making sure your presentation covers all your points clearly and concisely. Always review a prospects website to learn about what it sells, how it makes money and how you he might be able to fix its problems. also checks for any mutual connections on LinkedIn. Give them a call or an email asking more about the prospect's personality.

3. Liven it up. Many professionals don't realize just how boring their presentations are-too many facts, a flat monotone, tired stories. Sometimes professionals have been giving the same presentation for so long they just slip into autopilot, In today's competitive market, your presentations must be entertaining in order to obtain and maintain the attention of prospects.
Be creative and put some energy behind your presentation. The tone you use and your vocal variation allow you to project your own personality and to create a positive response whether you are speaking to one person or a large group of people.

4. Don't use visual aids as a crutch. If brochures, handouts or slides could sell a product or service on their own, companies would not need salespeople. Depending too much on visual aids can give us a false sense of security, we tend to think it isn't necessary to prepare thoroughly because our props will lead us right through the presentation. We let the visual aid become the star and virtually run the show.

Strategically place visual aids in your presentation to highlight major points, but remember that your style and personality will have much more impact. Most important, ask yourself whether a visual aid is for you or for them? If it's for you to get you through your presentation, scrap it. If it's for them so they can visually understand your presentation, keep it.

5. Be ready to take the next step. Not every presentation is going to end with a sale, so it's up to you to establish the next step in the process. One of his biggest mistakes concluding meetings is a "we hope to talk again soon" mentality.

You need to determine the next steps right then and there–before life gets in the way.Be ready to schedule a subsequent meeting or follow-up phone call, which will show you're serious about working together. You may not have the sale yet but you at least have something set up so things can continue to move forward.

Reasons To Be Cheerful

If your a glass half full person rather than half empty then you are probably one of lifes achievers.

In a recent study taken across 500 leaders of business in the UK, 97% optimistically predicted a better year next year and that growth and investment would return.

The latest figures are showing that unemployment is falling, banks are lending again, exports are up and foreign investment is up as well as mortgage applications up, interest rates low and we are officially out of a recession again. So there is much to cheer about.

From an employers point of view on ground level, there are green shoots, all be it slow that things are getting better, for instance our sales are up on last year, there is more activity in the sectors that used to be very aggressive in their marketing. We are also seeing more enquiries than ever and when we are speaking to clients they are now starting to invest again not just in equipment but in personnel as well.

For us, we have treated these last years as a challenge, we have been able to talk to people who wouldnt speak to us before and have found that we are stronger than we thought and that goes back to being optimistic.

What I can say, is that I know we are over the worst and we have all got used to living within a budget now and not to be extravagant but sometimes you have to take that chance otherwise how can we measure ourselves on what we could achieve.

So when your in work today, try to smile as its infectious, good things happen when you do and even if they dont you'll face will have had a good workout.

Its all about you

In todays marketplace, quality is not a luxury anymore but comes as standard so what else can we all sell ourselves on. There is an old adage that says 'People buy from people' and nowadays this is more important than ever.

There is a myth floating around that price is king today, but I can quite categorically say that I see more than 50 clients a week and price isnt the be all and end all with them. My clients value seeing me turn up, stopping to have a chat with them, taking an interest in their lives and their company and helping them solve their problems that they have.

There are more selling methods than just by price only as that only leads to one way - down, I try and help my clients to problem solve, be honest with them in what they are trying to achieve and to build that relationship for the long term. It doesnt always work but what I can tell you is that most of my clients have become good friends and that I have had the majority of them for over 5 years now.

So next time you are sitting in an apppointment dont just pitch about your company, take an interest in the company and person you are dealing with ask them questions not just about the company but them as well, be personable yet professional and the best advice I can give is ' Shut up and listen '

Happy Birthday to us - 4 years on

Yes we were 4 years old on the 8th October and we were so busy we forgot all about it, so we thought we would just say a big thank you to all our customers and suppliers over the 4 years, we are only here because of you, so thank you.

Over the 4 years we have seen our business grow rapidly even with the hardship of the recession biting at our heels, our philosophy was always to give you 'design and print the way it should be' and we have held those values continually.

We always look to improve ourselves as we know we are not perfect and the coming year will present another set of challenges but with every year that goes by our brand gets stronger.

So thank you all for your support and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Lets Talk

Yes lets, after all isnt that what we used to do, theres is no better way of communicating than talking, intead of trying to cram everything into a status update, a tweet, a text, an email lets pick up the phone and arrange a meeting face to face.

More business is still done face to face and the stats show, I was reading an article from the guys at Moo.com and I wanted to share it with you. This is there article:

Dealing with contacts in person, rather than via email or social networking, is helping the UK's successful entrepreneurs and business owners generate a potential £9.45bn revenue a year, says new research from moo.com.

Small businessmen and women may use a variety of online and offline ways to deal with clients, customers and suppliers, but many feel they do better when they can 'see the whites of their eyes', the study shows.

In particular, they are better able to judge a person by how they look or dress or the firmness of a handshake than anything they provide via Facebook or Twitter, according to business card experts MOO.

The firm interviewed 152 owners of small businesses in the UK about how they networked to help their ventures grow They found 42% believe if they were to hand out 100 business cards, it would generate £5,000 a year or more in revenue.

Spread across the UK's 4.5 million small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) it adds up to a staggering £9.45 billion a year netted through personal contact in business.

Modern business leaders do however combine this with social networking on sites like Facebook and LinkedIn to stay in touch with a wider audience, and use these tools and others, like Twitter, to maintain a business presence online.

But when it comes to marketing, old fashioned methods work best. While one in four (25 per cent) consider their website to be their most important tool, 32% say word of mouth/referrals and 21% believe their business cards are their most important marketing tool.

Out of the 152 small business owners, good places to network show that some traditions remain unchanged with 47 per cent naming the pub and 61 per cent suggesting conferences. For those looking after their figures, 29 per cent said they network at the gym, according to the survey.

So lets all get out there and have a chat, chinwag, gossip, a catch up or a tete - a- tete or lets get our heads together and do some business

And I just wanted to say thankyou to the guys from Moo.com for a great article.

Holidays are a coming....
Holidays are a coming...

Yes it will be coming around sooner than you think and we are in full swing of designing and printing Christmas Menu brochures, one such example is what we did for Pendley Manor recently.

With Christmas being such an important time for business you have to start early to make sure you get through the December month since there is such a limited time because of the closedown.

This is why all hotels and restaurants pretty much start their Christmas campaign back in January because they know how demanding the market is.

Kevin Brook from Fresh stated, ' We've been doing Christmas brochures ever since the last one finished, its a big market but businesses come to us as we know what we are doing and we know how important it is for them as well to get it looking right.

Take Pendley Manor for example, the brief for them was to get the look right for it to attract a good selection of business users, not only did they want it to attract big businesses but it has to appeal to the small medium enterprises as well and what we produced this year I think we have achieved this.'

So next time your thumbing through a Menu or a Brochure take another look to see if what you are reading does appeal to you and if it influences your decision.

Fresh adds its own Olympic Touch

With the Olympic Games fast approaching we were asked to help produce the programmes for Berkhamsted Olympic Games which was at the Bridgewater School.

The event was a great success and we had to print over 5000 programmes to cover the demand.

It was a chance to see the Champions of tomorrow competing in various events and to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics as well.

Andy Gerlack from Fresh said ' It was great to be involved with the printing of this programme for such an important occasion, we always try to help local events and this was a good one for us to raise our profile in Berkhamsted, the finished programme looks a winner to me'

            New School, New Beginnings

There is a new Primary School just about to open up in Aylesbury at Buckingham Park and Fresh played its part by producing the folders ready for the Schools opening in September.

Hayley Jackson who is the Business Manager there had no hesitation in who to look for when it came to helping to promote the School as she had used us before in a previous role at another primary school.

The School itself is a magnificent piece of architecture with clean lines and great views across the landscape and open spaces for the children.

With the school opening in September there is great excitement around to see the finished article.

Andy Gerlack said ' What a great place to learn and what an achievement to see it will be all finished and up and running in time for September, I wish Nick, Hayley and the rest of the team the best of luck for September, Im excited for them and Im just grateful that we could be involved in our own small way."
